There is an old Rainbird analog rotation controller, and I want to upgrade to a modern WiFi controller so that I don't run to the basement to turn on and off the rain delay. I've been watching competitors' products, but I'm not crazy about their $200.00 price. So when the Orbit controller came to market at half the price, it immediately caught my attention. I waited for months to let some comments pour in, and as soon as I felt comfortable, I went to buy it. It is an integrated component in a weather box for indoor or outdoor installation. I chose the 6-district controller because I only have 3 districts so far, and I plan to add another area to the feature garden in front of my house. In the end, I decided to leave it where it was, because I had an electrical outlet there. The power cord is about 6 feet long, so if you need some length, don't worry. The installation took all 5 minutes. Take a picture of an old wire, which is a common green, red, white and blue wire for areas 1, 2 and 3, respectively. I used a small flat-head screwdriver to remove the wire from the old controller, unplug the old controller, remove it from the wall, then clean it up and put it aside as a "backup" because it still works well. I removed the old plastic anchors and screws from the wall, installed the new ones, and hung the Orbit controller on the wall. Then I passed the wire through the cable ring at the bottom.

This is my first Rachio product, which I bought on the advice of my next-door neighbors and brothers, all of whom have previous versions. I'm glad I took their advice because the controller was amazing. It is well constructed, has easy-to-understand instructions, is very easy to install, and your smartphone application is well designed and carefully considered. I have been using this device for about three weeks and I am very satisfied with the results. The device is super intelligent and can be run automatically or manually according to your preference. You can run it exactly when you want it every day, or you can set it up to monitor the weather in your area and allow it to determine when and how much to water. I have a personal weather station on my house and I have connected my Rachio to my PWS to receive weather data. Smart watering is based on the actual rainfall in my house, not at a remote weather station a few miles away. It is clear that Rachio has done its homework and produced a high-quality device that works very well. The app is also amazing, and you can run anything from the phone app or the controller itself. At a glance, you can verify that the system is online and connected to the wi-fi, and is actively watering the area. The device supports up to 8 areas. I only have six, so I've disabled the last two from my settings. If you have a Amazon Echo, you can control everything through that device, but if you use HomeKit, like I do, then.

This is quite easy to set up. Plugging it in is easy, but connecting to WiFi is a bit clumsy compared to other smart devices I own (Nest,Honeywell,Wemo,Ring, etc.). Once completed, the application takes a few minutes to connect and get the plan and settings. Sometimes it times out in the process. When you finally get in, there are some good features, such as easier to manage schedules than the controller interface, which is painful at best and, of course, external. Sitting comfortably on the sofa to manage the controller is the main selling point. The second feature is seasonal adjustment, which will automatically adjust the watering length according to historical weather conditions. I set up a notification for this, and the day after installation, it rained, and I received a push notification to let me know that it would reduce watering time by 20%. How all these adjustments will keep my lawn green is to be determined, but it may reduce my water bill! Update-I downgraded my rating from 2 stars to 4. This product may be worth a star, but I give it an extra potential. After a week, you cannot connect to the controller from the application. I did go out, unplug the device from the controller and plug it back in (no need to reinstall). It worked for two days, and now I can't connect anymore. This should not be a connectivity issue. I have a Google Network and a lot of expensive bandwidth from my is.Update 2-I moved the nearest WAP and now …

I ended up buying two different WiFi connection controllers, this one and the Rainbird model. I also added a rain sensor, which is supported by both controllers. I read the comments about these two controllers, and some people say that Rainbird is too simple, and the B-Hyve model is much better. In the end, I chose Rainbird, but here's my idea of this orbital unit; the advantages are very complicated, and if you like to irrigate the rabbit hole, this is for you. You can select soil type, plant type, sprinkler type, enter soil moisture, slope details for each zone, and photos for each zone. You can have the controller run completely automatically, and it will be watered and maintained according to the local weather (you can enter your location, and you can even choose the local weather station). It does not require battery backup and looks very stable on my WiFi (only 2.4 Ghz is supported). You can further calibrate watering by purchasing measuring cups to measure the water actually sprinkled on your area and then entering the information into the application. Each area has good manual control and a history of watering events is maintained. It looks very clean and modern when installed and is much cheaper than RainBir. Cons, I think it's very lightweight architectural intelligence, a small junction board with a small screw clip, not a trading circuit breaker, just a little subtle. Very small local controls, almost undisplayed, are also not trading circuit breakers. The external rain sensor is supported, but there seems to be no indication that it is in a state that it is raining for me.

So I have to admit that I have been trying to find the need to connect sprinkler systems. My whole house is full of Internet of things devices, and I'm a big fan of connectivity technology. I finally decided to pull the trigger and see what all the fuss was about. First of all, the installation of Rachio is simple. It took about 15 minutes to connect to the power supply, to connect to my rain sensor, and to connect to the WiFi. Please do yourself a favor and check your wifi signal at the installation site. It is easy to do so using a Ookla application or any other SPED test site. I have a mesh WiFi system, so I'm very fast in the garage. Second, the application helps you set up and explain the type of sprinkler, the type of soil, and the actual weather data for your area. Adding areas to the Rachio controller is simple. The application is well thought out and makes installation very simple. So how does it work? 1 。 As a result of this equipment, I have greatly reduced my water consumption. Not only does it apply to most irrigation systems, but it can also be connected to weather stations in your area to help predict whether it will rain. The nearest weather station is about six miles away, so it's very accurate. Note that when you install the system for the first time, you need to pay attention to your system and ensure that if the system decides to skip the watering plan, the weather station you are connected to is close enough to ensure accuracy. This is correct in my experience. There's.

This is what the amazing clock does for low costs. I bought equipment for 12 stations and replaced an old equipment that cost nearly $1000, and this device of about $70 basically did everything the old clock did at a very small cost. There is one special thing about this clock, and several other commentators have pointed out that it is a problem, and it is clear that they do not fully understand the problem. The other commentators said the units did not maintain good time and lost a few minutes in just a few days. In fact, one commentator returned a clock for this reason and complained that the replacement was also not a good timer. At first, that's what I thought, too, until I did some research and did some tests on my unit. In fact, the clock keeps an excellent time, at least in my unit. However, when you rotate the programming wheel through the set time setting, you are likely to do so to reach any other setting position, the clock will be reset to the current time, and seconds will be rounded to zero. Therefore, if you are setting up something else in the clock, and you rotate the programming wheel counterclockwise (from the automatic position where it is most likely to live most of the time, by setting the time position) to get what you want, the clock is effectively set back to 0-59 seconds each time. This can make the device seem to be losing time very quickly, especially when the device is new and you are programming and reprogramming it frequently. So, just rotate the programming in one direction.

This is a great supplement to your rain bird and rain sensor. It makes it easy to set up and program Rain Birds. In addition, the seasonal adjustment function works well in my Florida area. Problem: because my router is inside and my device is external, sometimes when it can't get a signal, it tends to disconnect. Moreover, it is initially difficult to find signals for module units synchronized with WiFi. I just tried to fix it again and tried it in 3 to find it, and I was able to connect. This application is as detailed as other applications, but it can accomplish the task. Prompt make sure you have a rainfall sensor installed, otherwise you will not be able to make full use of intelligent watering. In addition, find water tips and maximum length recommendations for watering time in your area. Make sure your rain sensor is set to the correct setting. Test the signal strength with your phone to ensure that you have good signal strength to your WiFi. In addition, some bands may need to be closer to the unit to work. Now, if you have a Rainbird esp model and an appropriate rain sensor, it makes sense to add this linked WiFi unit. But if you switch to a new unit in the market, try to compare competition with price. The weather information in the application is accurate and my area is Florida.

It took longer to remove the old controller from the wall instead of installing it and making the sprinkler run. Take a picture of your old wiring setup, pull the old one off the wall, put the new one on, put it back on the wire, and test it. I finished the whole thing, programmed, and watered the grass in less than 20 minutes. Good display and all the buttons are relatively easy to read. It has been working for a week without complaining.

If it works with a timer like my test, it's great to water your plants when you're away for a few weeks (as long as you remember to have a container big enough to hold water). There is a small hole in the pump pipe, but this is for pressure, so don't worry. You just need to get it close to one side of your container so that the water doesn't spurt out. The 4-10-18 update is like a spell. It took us three months to get out of town. Someone came in and gave us a bucket of water for about 2-3 weeks. I'm adding a picture of a plant, only one plant doesn't do well, but in defense, when it's added to the system, it doesn't do very well. We also use growth lights to increase light.

I bought this unit as a substitute for the same unit in the previous generation. If I want, I can simply replace the control unit by removing the ribbon cable and ejecting the old one from its hinge. However, I deleted the whole old one and put this in its place. I didn't install the original equipment, but the whole replacement process took about 30 minutes. The new device has a good feature that allows it to be "offline" programmed by using the power supply of a 9-volt backup battery. That's good, so you don't have to stand at the terminal (outside, in the sun. Perform the setting (the temperature here exceeds 100 degrees). The configuration and use of the device is very simple, and the manual is easy to understand, even if you have never seen it before. For those interested, there was a known error in the previous version of the code (more than 8 years) that caused it to "crash" periodically and stop activating its workstation. The temporary fix is to turn off all power, remove the battery, wait a few minutes, and then repower. Usually, I need to reprogram after that little exercise. It works, but it's not convenient, and you usually only find it when your plant starts to turn yellow. This new version of NVRAM, can store your program even if the backup battery runs out-Oh, and the error should be fixed. So far so good.
