Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Are all ballpoint pen refills the same?

Some pen brands take standard refill sizes, so you can buy generic or off-brand pen ink cartridges (and these are usually cheaper and of exactly the same quality), but others have specific profiles and sizes that fit only their pens.

2. Are ballpoint pen refills universal?

Most mini (or pocket-sized) pens and multi-function ballpoint pens use a D-1 Ballpoint Refill, which has a more compact shape and is usually not compatible with larger ballpoint pens.

3. Can you replace ink in pens?

When replacing the refill, rotate the metal nib clockwise to remove it, pull out the spring, and pull out the used refill. Insert a new refill, replace the spring, and close the pen tip by turning the nip counterclockwise. Below is how the ink refill looks after taking it out of the packaging.
