Hydro Mousse is known for their "Liquid Lawn System", which is designed to easily fix patchy and uneven lawns. For individuals with limited time for lawn care, the promotional video might strike an emotional chord. But does the spray-on lawn system actually work? Let’s find out.
Is Hydro Mousse a Good Brand?
We wouldn’t say it’s a good brand, even a scam in som way. The product itself and the actual results are not as advertised. While the Liquid Lawn System can indeed sprout grass, it doesn't live up to its promise of a lush, quickly-growing lawn. The system is easy to use but is prone to leaks, and the 'mousse' is more like colored water than a substance that sticks to the ground. Given the price point and the results, we believe there are better, more cost-effective methods to grow grass on your patio. In fact, althought the regular growing methond takes more effort, it ultimately yields superior results.
Does it work?
Yes, the system did sprout grass, but the growth process was very slow, and the result was far from the plush lawn in the video.
The product is marketed as a "mousse," but it is actually a bit misleading. Rather than a mousse that sticks to the ground, it's more like green food coloring water. This was particularly problematic on sloped areas, where the liquid just streamed down instead of adhering to the surface.
Furthermore, the product was quite messy. The container leaked, staining hands and the deck with a green dye that took a week to completely fade. Even though the company claims that the dye washes off easily, it will seep into newly built deck, causing permanent stains.
Price
Even though the system is easy to use, we wouldn't say it's worth the price. The grass seed included in the package seems to be of the same quality as any other seed. Using a sprayer and seeds separately yielded almost the same results, which led us to question the value of the Liquid Lawn System. Amazon customer reviews also show that the product is not worth the price.
