I bought this to cut back on stainless steel straws because they are no longer available in restaurants. There's nothing wrong with them! Pay attention, this thing is very small. Looks like it's only an inch and a half long. Little giant!

It comes quickly, which means it's easy to follow. To my surprise, the blade was very sharp. I tried a plastic pipe about an inch wide. It was a clean, smooth cut. See Image. The spring coil seems to be a little too small to handle larger pipes. Hopefully it can handle bigger pipes. It has a one-year warranty, so this is a plus sign. Recommended for pipes less than 11 inches.

I only used it a few times, but it was easy to cut off the PEX. My hand is not big, but I can hold it with one hand and cut it. The only drawback of this tool is that it can hardly open a 1-inch PEX wide enough. Make sure you know exactly where you want to cut, and then slide the pipe into the cutting protection of that place, because the blade will score the pipe deeper than I like to do. Once you put the cutter on the pipe, you can't adjust it. However, the problem also has a positive impact: don't worry that the tool will slip, and the cut workpiece will eventually be longer or shorter than expected.

It may not be as fast as an expensive model, but if you have the patience and rotate it a few times back and forth, it will work well. I used it to prepare to install a 1-inch SharkBite fitting and was very satisfied with what it did on the 1-inch copper tube. It's a good tool for such a low price.

This is a great quality tube knife that completes the work. My husband is working on some plumbing and needs a pipe cutter. Needless to say, I don't know anything about it, but I ordered one for him. I thank you very much for ordering this one. It's a good deal for so much money.

This thing just cut open. I need its half-inch CPVC. And then I decided to take it to the next level. My dog likes to hunt raccoons. I always felt bad because he brought me the body of a raccoon, and there was nothing I could do but put it in a garbage bag and take it to the dustbin to avoid the stench. Well, this time, with my new pipe cutting tool, I think I'll start collecting tails. I'm sure this won't help the durability of the tools, but I've cut off the pipes I need to cut, and now I have three raccoon tails hanging in my room (though admittedly, they don't smell like flowers).

I need to expand some aluminum tubes and the work done by this kit. I am very satisfied with the cutting tools. It made simple and perfect cuts without any problems. I've never used a tool to expand the tube. In a few minutes, I did some test flares, which was definitely what I needed to complete my project. This is definitely the toolkit DIY people need in their toolbox.

I was even able to cut 1 Mutual 1 PEX 2 inches without any problems with these. I just have to be careful to rotate them while cutting. I studied almost all the tubing cutters on Amazon, as well as dozens of other online sources. There is nothing better than this price range, they do not need blackmail. When you cut, their last little wire loop is annoying and gets in your way. However, no other handle locks with this capacity and different types can be found. The scissors on the southern line are different from their photos. Their handle locks are just like this rigid lock. If you need this range, you should get this. If not, you should try the Lenox cutter with a lock at hand.

I need to cut a 3 "diameter PVC shower drain, which is surrounded by concrete, about 2" below the floor level. " It can't be done without this tool. I made a guide to make the job easy. The diameter of the spindle is 1 stroke 2 ", a 3" x 3 "plywood is taken, and a 1ram 2" hole is drilled in the center. I put the knife shaft through the plywood "doughnut" and stacked the gasket between the doughnut and the drill to get the 2 "proper spacing I needed between the blade and the doughnut." The doughnut rests on top of the existing PVC tube and keeps the cutting blade at the right level. It's well cut and smooth. Once I set it up, it may take 60 seconds. The blade did come loose once, but I tightened the screw with pliers (which seems to be more effective than a screwdriver). I could have done that. "

Best Pipe Cutters Buying Guide

David Dawson
Share post:

A pipe cutter is a cutting tool for metal pipes, especially used on copper. It is used to make cuts at right angles. Do you know how to choose a pipe cutter? Do you know the technique to use it? In this guide, we give you the keys so that you know which one to choose. Read on!

Cutting pipes is a very common task, be they PVC, aluminum, copper, iron or even plastic. The cut we get with other types of tools is not as perfect or rushed as we will get with the so-called pipe cutter.

It is that this tool, also called plumber pipe cutter, has as its fundamental part the blade: with it is what the cut is made with. The pipe cutters are manufactured by injecting the metal alloy into special molds.

Later some of its parts are painted, melting the paint in the piece so that it adheres. The pipe cutter is essential in tasks of the water and air sector and is widely used to work with air conditioners or gas installations.

Parts of the pipe cutter

We can define four basic parts of the pipe cutter and make sure you choose the cutter with these parts.

  • Sliding: advances the cutting blade
  • Rollers: to support the pipe we want to cut
  • Blade: made of a special material called tool steel. This material stands out for its high carbon content, which is what ensures high hardness.
  • Jaw grip: to hold the pipe

Types of pipe cutters

There are 3 main types of pipe cutters, here we tell you a little about each type:

Scissors: it is suitable for soft pipes. As the name implies, it has a scissor shape and one of its leaves constitutes a surface on which the turn that will allow our cut can be made.

Pipe cutter G-shaped: The pipe to be cut is inserted into this G and is thus well secured. It has two rollers on which the blade rotates. The cut is made during this rotation of the pipe through the blade. The mechanism is very simple: some measures can be adjusted to make the blade stick to the pipe.

Slicer cutter: It is used to make cuts in internal threads or outside the pipes. It has a total of three parallel blades that can be moved up. The good thing about this type of pipe cutter is that it allows you to embed it in a lathe and make the cut automatically.

The mechanism of a pipe cutter is very simple and effective: it consists of being able to adjust the pipe to be cut, turn the wheel and in this way actuate the blade, the action can be repeated until the desired cut is achieved. Its drive is completely manual. As a result, we get a clean and straight cut.

The type of pipe cutter you choose will have to do with the function you need to fulfill. Look at the dimensions of the pipes you normally need to cut. This way you may have enough with a tool of few dimensions.
