Once I felt it was safe, I used it indoors on my kitchen stove, and it heated up 200 square feet rapidly. It's no more effective than stacked clay pots on the stove, but it's lighter, more stable, and much less fragile. The lightweight design is a huge safety advantage because it cools off quickly. If it was accidentally knocked over, it wouldn’t cause as much damage as hot clay pieces. I'm very pleased and can’t wait to use it as a camping heater and a backup at home.”

Since it's made of stainless steel, once the paint burns off, the smell dissipates. The snuffer works great for extinguishing the flame, and I leave it on after putting out the fire for easy access next time. I primarily use Denatured alcohol, and while the directions don’t specify what to do with the felt-like material, I just wad it up in the fill cup center to prolong the burn.”

“This is a cylinder with about a quart of volume, made mostly of stainless sheet metal. The initial burn does release quite a bit of outgassing and some smoke, so I recommend doing it under an exhaust hood or outside. You can feel the heat from three times further compared to the sides, which seems to be about 60% convective and 40% radiant. You can adjust the flame height, just be cautious that it doesn't extend outside the cylinder. It's perfect for warming hands at a picnic table and could easily heat a 10 x 10 tent if used carefully. The inside does get bright red hot like coals, and the exterior can become quite warm. Hence, I’d advise against letting it touch a tent floor or wall. For safe indoor use, it should be secured in a spot where nothing can brush against it or knock it over, ideally with a metal baffle above it to diffuse the heat plume. I could definitely see using this to heat the back of my pickup while camping, just with the window cracked open.”
