Use these alot in my business. The cutting quality is great on first cut but wears fast even with cooling and lubes
1) ACTOOL HSS annular cutter, with unique types geometry and random-space tips provide clearly cutting, fast feed rate, less vibration, smooth hole surface and long tool life, the effective of drilling is much better and quicker than the common drills. 2) ACTOOL HSS annular cutter has the advantage of being durable, super tough and longer life tool 3) ACTOOL HSS annular cutter with weldon shank can be used with most major magdrills 4) The cutter can be widely used in drilling steel, copper, aluminum, stainless steel and plastic, in either plate or pipe form.
I used these with my Grizzley Drill/Mill/ Lathe machine and they were a Godsend. I had something like 30 holes to cut between 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch plate and angle to get my project done. Couldn't have done it so cleanly without these.
Cut 60 holes through 1 inch thick A36 steel plate with a single cutter. Used a drill press with a Weldon shank to mt4 adaptor and 5W30 motor oil. Cutter is still sharp.Purchased more.
I know it's just an edge finder, however it's still a critical instrument. I refused to buy cheap edge finders because some didn't have hardened steel tips, some were in metric sizes, some were too inexpensive to actually trust for precise measurement...
Brown & Sharpe, can't go wrong. Very nice fit and finish, I can continually repeat 0. 0002" on a manual mill with this tool (only checking location with a quality DRO after I feel i'm in the right spot). For the work I'm doing, + or - 0.001 is good enough.
But hey, it's good quality and a great name.
Cutter set seems well made, sharp and accurate to size +/- 0.001.Nice case. I modified a 3/4 inch milling cutter holder to use these on my knee mill, works very well. Holes are finished to size and with a reamed-like finish.
Constant lube is needed with any annular cutters, which are designed for magnetic drills with internal lubrication, but it works fine on my mill with external lube. For any through-hole use in appropriate material, these beat the heck out of twist drills for finish and speed and lots easier than boring.
And the price is right. OK, I'm a hobby shop, have no idea how these would stand up to daily industrial use, but they are nicely made and do the job.
I use it on my Jet Mill JDM-18. It fit perfectly in the Mill. Now I can use my Evolution Annular Cutter (round drill bits) on the Mill, which Mill does a perfect and easy job versus the Magnetic drill that I was using before having the Mill.FYI.
(My worry was that, previously I bought an R8 Collet set and some of the Collets did not fit this Mill and were useless). But this Adaptor fits perfectly.
I've never used annular bits before... All I can say is WOW!!! I've never seen a standard twist bit cut like these do! I bought these to go along with the Bluerock Tools Model BRM-35A mag-base drillpress I just bought.
Honestly, I wish I'd have had these two items for all the work I've done over the last forty years!!!Money well spent! These things go through 5/8" think steel plate faster than you can believe. (kept them well oiled and they're as sharp after the 64th hole as they were on the first one!
This worked great in my Bridgeport mill to cut 3" holes in 1/2" cold roll plate. Saves a ton of time over using a boring tool. Tool is sharp and cuts pretty fast with coolant. I am sold on these annular cutters and bought the whole family of larger sizes, use them in the Mill and the lathe.
I used this Shank to adapt a Wen Drill Press to use annular cutter bits. I cut 16 holes through one inch thick plate steel and various other items. The shank is milled precisely and worked great. It is not self cooled but I cooled my bits with a spray penetrating oil and did fine.
I'll be able to pop this out when I'm done and use the Jacobs chuck any time. One suggestion, these stay in place by friction and need to be kept clean. Suggest storing in a baggie or plastic box when not in use to protect against dust or corrosion.
Crappy set screws, otherwise seemed ok. Replace setscrews with new US made ones.
I use these on 1/4" plate mild steel and drilled over 200 holes with it and it is still going strong.
This is my second bit. The first one I ordered is still cutting after 425 holes in a 3/8 inch tube. I needed a backup just in case the 1st one stops cutting. Great product and very fast delivery.
They are not good they brake easy i got 3 sets and they all broke and i hade bye difren brand
First time I have used one of these types of cutter, I drill alot of holes with my Jet Drill press and these things just cant be beat, I am cooling thru the center with Antifreeze and they dont heat up at all.
3/4" hole thru 1/2 AR50 plate in under 40 seconds.
